I am running because District 14 deserves leadership that listens, stays involved, and delivers practical solutions. As a farmer, retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant, and agricultural leader, I have seen farmers and small-business owners struggle to access affordable funding and equipment. Families also need healthier food, better healthcare access, and an elected representative who listens, shows up, and helps people find practical solutions.
Too many of our neighborhoods right here in South Carolina, and across our country, are trapped in what we call food deserts. This means families don't have easy access to the fresh, healthy food they need to thrive. I believe we can change this, and I have a practical way to do it. If elected, I will work directly to connect our community with dedicated farmers both here in South Carolina and beyond our state lines. By building these strong, direct partnerships with growers, we can bring fresh produce straight to the tables of the people who need it most. This isn't about politics; it's about making sure our neighbors have real, healthy options. Together, we can bridge this gap and deliver fresh food to our community.
As your candidate, I am deeply committed to bringing practical nutritional education to our neighborhoods. I want to focus on teaching our families and community members how to grow their own fresh fruits and vegetables, right at home. We do not need acres of land to make a difference; we can achieve this in small spaces by using hydroponics and other innovative growing methods. My goal is to share these hands-on skills so that everyone in our community has access to fresh, healthy food they grew themselves. By learning these methods together, we can empower our families and strengthen our community from the inside out.
I look around our area and see that our communities and our farmers are being severely underfunded in the current political climate. It is heartbreaking to know that right now, so many of our local families are relying on community food bank programs just to survive. This has to change. That is why my absolute focus is on securing the funding our communities and our farmers need to thrive. I am stepping up to fight for this critical support because our neighbors and our agricultural partners deserve real investment. Together, we can ensure that our families have the security they need and that our communities are never left behind.
